Alexandra Hartley, Principal Designer grew up in England and is now based in Houston, Texas.

After graduating from the University of London, Alexandra started her design career with high-end British home retailer, John Lewis, managing their customers’ interior design projects. Aside the practical design skills learned on the job, customer service and attention to detail were key pillars of the John Lewis work ethic, these are central to Alexandra’s work today.

Alexandra then broadened her business breadth working for Mars, Inc. in the UK and the US, in both Sales and Marketing. Alexandra cherishes her time spent at Mars, and took away many transferable skills that have served her very well in both the interior design industry and in running her own business.

In her mid 30’s Alexandra and her husband moved from London to Houston, Texas, and subsequently to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, these international moves have widened Alexandra’s design influences. After two years in Malaysia, Alexandra, her husband, and their two boys returned to Houston, which has now been their home for the last 8 years.

After a career break to bring up her boys, Alexandra set about renovating their family home and started Alexandra Hartley Interiors in 2020 after friends requested her help in their home design projects.

Alexandra’s design style is strongly influenced by her British heritage, which, coupled with her international moves, have led to an aesthetic that balances tradition and contemporary elegance, in spaces that are thoughtfully layered and approachable.
